Application Process:

  1. All application materials must be received by the SUO-HNS office no later than July 31, 2017(deadline extended.)

  2. The office will collect all application materials and forward them to the Chair of the Membership Committee. The Membership Committee will review applications and make a recommendation for the Executive Committee for review. The approved list will then be distributed to the membership-at-large prior to the annual meeting. The applicants deemed acceptable by the Membership Committee with no dissenting remarks from the membership-at-large will be considered acceptable for formal membership and will be recognized at the annual meeting.

  3. Completed applications, letters of recommendations or questions should be directed to the SUO office:

  1. Application Requirements
  • Applicant should
    • hold a faculty appointment in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery in a medical school and having completed an approved residency training program.
    • by his/her work as an otolaryngologist - head and neck surgeon, teacher or investigator give promise of a successful career in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery.
  • Required support materials
    • Letter of proposal from applicant's department head.
    • Letter of proposal from one SUO-HNS member other than applicant's department head.
    • Copy of applicant's bibliography.


Application Timeline:

  • Application deadline - July 31st
  • Application review completed by Membership Committee - September 22nd
  • Recommendation sent to Executive Council - September 29th
  • New member announcements made at SUO/AADO/OPDO Annual Meeting - November 11th
